Kathy Varadi

Kathy Varadi

Biography

Kathy Varadi is a contemporary oil painter who is developing the concept of a new sublime in her most recent series called the Neosublime. Varadi applies the classical philosophical notions of the sublime to overwhelming and incomprehensible contemporary events such as political chaos, the climate crisis, and the pandemic. Because of her love of the ocean she frequently paints plein air. She is informed by the coastal beauty of Deer Isle ME and Savannah GA. Her work varies from pleasing and thought-provoking paintings to emotionally abstract paintings. She received her BFA in painting from Savannah College of Art and Design and is an MFA candidate in 2D studio art at Georgia Southern University.
